Think You Know Extrusion Blow Molding Machine? Think Again

A extrusion blow molding machine is a piece of equipment used to produce plastic bottles and containers. It is usually used in the production of chemical barrels, tool boxes, cosmetic bottles, detergent bottles, engine oil and lubricating containers, and can also be used in the production of beverage bottles, amusement equipment and vehicles. The following is the basic working principle of the extrusion blow molding machine :

Feeding of Plastic Pellets:

First, plastic raw materials are fed to the extrusion blow molding machine in the form of pellets. These plastic particles are usually plastic materials such as PE, PP, and ABS.

Heating and Melting:

The preforms are heated and melted into liquid plastic by a heating system, usually a combination of a screw and heating element.

Mold Assembly:

The extrusion blow molding machine’s molds take the shape of the bottle and these molds will be installed into the working area of the machine.

Bottle Blowing:

Molten plastic is injected into the mold, which then closes, sandwiching the melted plastic between the two molds.

Inflating and Blowing Bottles:

Once the mold is closed, air is injected into the mold, causing the plastic to expand and take the shape of the mold, a process known as “blow blowing.”

Cool Down:

Once the desired shape is formed, the cooling system begins cooling the plastic in the mold, allowing it to solidify and harden.

Open the Mold:

When the plastic has completely cooled, the mold opens to reveal the finished bottle.

Remove the Bottle:

The finished bottles are removed from the mold and fed to the next processing steps, such as labeling, packaging and sorting.
